I was going through my files on the weekend, chucking out shite that's over 7 years old & what did I come across?

Some old monthly newsletters, from 04, in the minutes for the Feb meeting who's name did I read as a guest?
None other than our current Pres. Ian T, besides yours truly being present there was also one Gordon O'D present, I farkin thought that GOD was a club member years ago, carn' ya lousy bugger whata 'bout payin' ya club membership renewals occasionally.

What I didn't find (I am worried that I may have chucked them during one of my many moves) is some of the old newsletters from the era when we used to meet at the Italian club, firstly in the boardroom (yes they used to lend us the boardroom for our club meetings), then the downstairs room that is now a gym, then finally the function room (which we used to share with the rock 'n' roll dancers).

Noticed some names that I'd nearly forgotten too, Darren from Ipswich (what ever happened to him?, great guy), Steve (once a secretary) with that bloody Lario (how many times did yours truly go over & help rebuild the top end?), Marshall H (whom I still speak to regularly) once a Club Pres. & many more, I wonder how many of these blokes are still Guzzisti & why they just drift away?

The club finances during 2004, we had about 4 grand in the bank, we had just started to get a little bit behind us, for years the Newell family lent the club the money for the Budgie, now 5 years later we are doing okay.

Many thanks has to go to those guys whom regularly put their hand up to run the club, in no particular order these guys year in, year out sat on our committee, swapping jobs many years but generally always on the committee & working hard for the club, my sincerest thanks to these guys & we should all buy then a drink or just shake their hands-

Mark F
Tom N
Michael W
Robyn J
Alan LR

Now you will probably understand why these guys are life-members, for probably 7 or 8 years the committee virtually consisted of these individuals.

Anyway enough of my reminiscing, just thought some of you may have been interested in the recent history of the club.

Yep, that is interesting for us relative new-comers, Wal......it's amazing how people are prepared to put in the time and help run clubs such as ours.
May they be blessed with many Guzzis, and other good things!! :number-one: :applause:

the title had me wondering,
thought wal had been peeking in his undies again.
But you are dead right about the few diehards doing what
the rest of us can't or won't take on.
Unfortunately my current money spinner doesn't alloow me to commit to many things
that require regular input and time dedicated to them.
Since I've been on the Gold Coast I've managed to attend one meeting due to work
cutting me out on the others.
Won't be making the next as I will be a few hundred kilometres from Alice Springs,
(maybe Wal could organise the club jet to pick me up)
until at least xmas on fly /fly out.
If my roster works out I might make the December meeting.
Anyway to echo Howards thoughts is a resounding THANKYOU to the people
that make the club function as it does.
later swagzz
