Not a Guzzi specific question, but.....
........got a bit of a shock today.....went to buy a decent quality spanner for a specific purpose, and to supplement the meagre tool kit on the bike, and Sidchromes, which built up a good reputation years ago, were double the price of other brands.
Read the fine print on the label, and of course even Sidchrome stuff seems to be made overseas nowadays, this time Taiwan (to Sidchrome's design and specification, of course, the tag says).
Any opinions out there on what brand of tools to buy?
Is it worth paying the extra for Sidchrome these days, and is/was their reputation justifiable?

I have a set of ring/open enders by KC Tools that have served me very well over the years. I also hear the Kinchrome stuff is good, no idea about cost.
I find the best prices on tools are from specialist tool suppliers like Trade Tools Direct and Glenfords, rather than the usual hardwares stores. I tell ya, these places are a blokes paradise Its always worth keepig an eye on thier weekly specials too.

Yes,
The KC stuff is reasonable.
I have just purchased some Gedore spanners, $800 odd worth, but I am able to claim them on tax & I am lucky enough to receive a tool allowance.
If you want KC, I can get you a price on those (trade of course) or I can get you a set of 6-18 Gedore deep socket spanners for just over the $200 mark (from memory). Both are good spanners but the Gedore if you don't lose them you will never have to replace them, they are built to last for life.
If you want other brands I can get prices for those as well (trade price of course through the tool guy that I use & he is a motorcyclist albeit a outlaw).
Just let me know if you want to go down that track.

Sidchrome, Kingchrome & & KC basically are from the same family. Each are targetted at different ends of the market.
The Repco stuff is pretty good as well.
