I've been a semi regular at a few Guzzi forums but just got into this one so better introduce myself. This is my third Guzzi and it was totally rebuilt so is my baby now. Previously owned a Lario and an 1100 sport. 1100 sports are still on my list of most beautiful bikes, unfortunately it didn't suit me, bloody uncomfortable for a short arse. Not much more to say, I'm an Italian bike fan but the Guzzi is my favourite. The Vstrom is my daily work hack but I must admit, I could be tempted to trade it on an 850T

Oh yeah, bike link: Here's one of the bike bedroom.

Welcome Doc
Great group of people with a few loose units (put your hand up Wal )
I'm on the Gold Coast at the moment but am always up for a ride so just post
it up in the stray rides section.
The hinterland roads are 2 minutes from my door so I'm making the most of it.

Nice little collection there Doc. I want a bike collection but the wife says she would never see me. I am still looking for the negatives in the arrangement. I am prepared for the sacrafise. Interested in your Lario days. That's what I am floating around on these days. Took me a while to get use to it but once I learned to give the gearbox a work out it is not too bad. I treat it better than my kids and have been lucky (touch wood) no mechanical dramas. It is a 1988 model which was the end of the series so maybe it was sorted by then.......or maybe not.
In another life I had a Mk111 & Mk1V lemans now I am getting all misty.

G'day Baz, I bought my Lario new in 85, it was my first Guzzi and obviously didn't do anything to turn me off them. Thinking back nearly 25 yrs and it was a sweet bike. Owned it for about 40,000 kms and from memory the only problems were: - clutch plate springs let go and jammed the starter motor, uni joint shit itself and shaft started bangin on the gear case. Both were caught early and were an easy fix at the time. Maybe not so easy a fix these days? Sold it to a mate where it promptly dropped a valve not long after 40,000 km. From dim memory, the valve springs on these were too hard, popular replacement was Suzuki 250 valve springs. If yours is still going then the valve problem has most likely been fixed. I like the small blocks and could be easily tempted into a V65 if anyone has one for sale.

Sorry for the delay in the reply Doc I never seem to find the time to sit down and read these things.
Mine has just over the 40K so I have been advised by Tom at Newells it is a good practice to do the valves at about 50K to avoid sudden death syndrome.
I wouldn't mind a bigger bike again as the kids are bigger than me these days so if they come for a ride with me it is a little crowded on the Lario.
I am sure I had more room in the old days the space around me disappeared after I turned 40.
I am due to get it serviced again shortly so I will make the trek down to the Gabba in the next week or two.
There are a few MK1V on Bike Point at the moment which would be fun to revisit.
Unfortunately the budget does not accomadate a new Moto Guzzi so if I do end up getting something bigger it will be from the Classic (old) era.
