Since its been slightly damp of late I decided to do a bit of research on the suspension settings for the G.
Sussed out a few other forums and came across the common thread of the G being bloody harsh from factory.
so set it up from a few other riders trial and error.
all dialed in clockwise first to stop
top of the forks rebound 2 1/4 turns
Bottom of forks compression 3/4 turn

Rear rh side is rebound damping 40 clicks
lh side is compression damping 1.5

took it for a quick run this morning but with so much water and debris around i just went gently,
going to lift the front spring preload to 5th level as the steering seemed slower with the new settings.

A lot softer too.
I'll keep adding to this as i try different settings.
keep in mind that i weigh 100 kilos .
so consider your own weight.

later swagzz

Swagzz, I stuffed around with the mono-shock on the back of my Breva 1100 for about a year just adding preload until it maxed out. :computer: Then I gave it another quarter turn of rebound damping and, voila, it got rid of the wallowing over long amplitude ripples in roads (usually caused by uneven settlement/compaction of the road base) and I just started winding the preload back with it getting better all the time. Unfortunately this took about 80,000 kms and the shockie was stuffed by the time I got it right...so now I've got the Hagon (referred to in another posting) and it does everything (luggage, pillion, etc) without any need to add more preload. I've just added a bit more rebound damping after 10,000kms, again to get rid of a wallowing on certain quality roads in the Cairns region.
And I weigh 120kgs, without ballast in my jacket pockets!?! :guzzi:

I find all this talk about suspension settings rather amusing/interesting.
As you would be aware, the 750 has virtually no adjustments available, apart from a very difficult to change preload on the rear shocks.
I haven't changed them from the setting they were on from the factory....as far as I can see they're nowhere near bottoming out in over 44,000 km's of solo riding, or fully loaded with camping gear, and occasionally with a pillion.
The front susupension has had slightly heavier oil added.
I experienced a bit of wallowing early on in ownership, (high speed sweepers) but it would stop if I took my weight off the 'bars.....a lesson in itself I guess.
The heavier oil made a difference, and also a change to Bridgestones.
I'm kind of glad I don't have the adjustments you guys are talking about.....I'd probably drive myself nuts forever trying to get the "perfect" set-up!
The 750 seems to do a pretty good job at keeping both wheels on the bitumen, and headed where I point it, regardless of the state of the road.
Only time I feel a bit unsure, is on wet, bumpy bitumen, but then I guess that goes for all of us with any sense of self preservation. :bike037:
