It started as a simple replacement of the switch gear on the Le Mans and has progressed to a complete rewire of the front end (as it does). A few little observations on the way.

Tip 1. After a bit of searching, I have been able to source the 12 pin and 15 pin Nolex plugs in the wiring loom of the Le Mans (and I assume other Guzzi's) as well as the pins, sockets and extraction tool which saves bulk time and swearing.

The company that supplies them in Sydney is Farnell Electronic Components.

I've sent a batch to our mate in Deshon St so he has them in stock.

Tip 2. Crimp the wire in the terminals then tip solder the wire where it pokes through the crush part of the crimp. This allows the wire to flex before the crimp but still provides a corrosion resistant joint at the terminal. I had quite a few terminals that were showing signs of failing through heat stress caused by crimps on tarnished wire generating heat. (It also explained a dim glowing Gen light)

Tip 3. Take the trouble to relay the headlights properly with 30 amp relays (cheap) and good quality 10 amp wire all the way through. You will "see the light" and your light switch will love you for all time. Believe me.

I usually sacrifice a goat and bathe in chickens blood but the relays and wire will work too. 8)
