Wal I have a 80th, anniversary california with some fancy fashion paniers colour of paniers is a maroon . I have damaged the top of one and have trouble finding a similar sample of leather to repair it as I have looked after them like new untill the top of one found its way between the rear tyre and guard? I would like to know if anyone has a clue where I could find a supply of this leather.Alwyn.

One of these? I'd say your chances of getting anything genuine Guzzi are about nil, but you probably already knew that. All the same, it might be worth asking, you never know your luck. If that does no good you might need to try looking up Leather Merchants, I did a search on Yellow Pages and found some businesses that might be worth phoning. Most don't have web sites but this one did. http://www.leffler.com.au/. Check the auto leather sample page for colors http://www.leffler.com.au/Connolly_Auto_Leather.htmMaybe a good custom auto upholsterer can help you out, they would probably have samples to try to match to your leather. Best of luck.

alwyn, Mark has given one suggestion, depending on how badly it is damaged is the key here, if it is just scratched you could try a vinyl & leather repairers, word of caution here some of these guys are just franchisees, so they don't necessarily have the required skills just sufficient funds to obtain a franchise. Or if it is damaged & needs replacing or if it may be able to be repaired by a specialist, then try a motorcycle leather s manufacturer, here is a brief list off hand- PD Leathers, Hardwick Racing, Hutchinson Leathers, Storm Leathers, Almari Leathers,
PD, Hutchinson & Hardwick are known around the racing circles, I can vouch for the quality of both PD & Hutchinson, as alot of the speedway guys use them. There is also a leathers place near Enoggera shops I think it's called Snow's . Also I've heard of a Hi-Side leather repairs, I think they do alot of Hardley stuff. Most of these people are pros, they should be able to go fairly close to matching the colour , so it won't matter if they are repairing the piece or replacing, I think it would work out cheaper than replacing the entire pannier as I'm not sure you'd find a near mint one second hand & I hate to think what the new price is.
I hope this helps you out some.
Hey you lot, I'm not supposed to be on the forum, cause I'm on the committee now, wasn't there some kind of rule that committee members weren't allowed in the forum.

Good thought Wal, I did not think of Hi Side. I suspect they might take offense at the Hogly reference They do main stream bike gear, race leathers and repairs. The business is run by Phil, he is a long time member of the Z Owners but is otherwise a good guy They do not have a website, but here are their details; Hi Side Leather Repair, 20 Cripps St, Salisbury QLD 4107. Phone Phil on 0417 723 799. I'd say Phil would go out his way to help out, he is that kind of bloke. He would probably need you to come by the shop with the bike to see what needs doing. If you are from out of Brisbane and need a hand to get there let me know. I can meet you somewhere and head there on a Saturday morning (any excuse for a ride).
