I've just got back from a 10,000 km round trip from Cairns to Phillip Island for the Superbikes. If Aprilia and BMW can field a team why not Guzzi? There were bugger all Guzzis at the races, maybe getting some on the track would attract more Guzzi riders? As my personal contribution I did an Afterburners ride on Monday after the races and did a few laps on the Breva 1100. After the scrutineer searched for the chain on my bike and had to be told it was a shaft drive I was a little concerned about the level of professionalism of the operation, but it all worked out fine. I was on track with all the motorcycle journos testing the BMW 1300s and was probably the slower rider that blocked some of them in a few corners...bugger 'em, I was still enjoying myself! As I was running a relatively hard compound tyre (Michelin Pilot Road 1s*) compared to the rest of them, I actually ended up collecting rubber from the track on the left side of my rear tyre and can now offer for sale on Ebay genuine Haga/Biaggi/Corser, and maybe even some Rossi/Stoner, tyre rubber....any offers for a fragment of motorcycle racing history? As always the Breva ran flawlessly and I rewarded it with a 100,000 km (has anyone out there got more than this on a 2005 Breva?) service with Tom Newell on my way through Bris Vegas. The new Hagon rear shocker got a little discombobulated (bloody GS1200 dump truck of riding companion just sailed across it all without any problems) on some of those dodgy back roads in NSW between Goondiwindi and Tamworth, but was generally fine. I'm considering a little more rebound damping to correct a bit of an end-to-end wallow over certain types of road surface....any comments/ideas on pursuing this? Brevanutter *When they're worn out I'm going back to Dunlop Roadsmarts which I reckon are the best tyres I've had on it so far.

Guzzi is a very exclusive group of true motorcyclists and have kept away from racing for many years so that the lesser brands and marques could win something. If Guzzi got out there and showed the world the truth of the matter we would be over-run with DH's, isn't that why God created Jappa's and Harley's to keep DH's and Rock apes off real bikes. If we let the Cali Gang loose could ya imagine the building that would be needed for all the trophies ........ Now that I've stirred the crap for the first time, I'm going back to the rock I was hiding under ............

Sounds like a good trip. Have you tried Metzeler Z6's on the Breva? I love 'em on the Norge, wouldn't have anything else.

I tried to enter the III in the WSC, but they had a problem with it, I think they may have seen me racing sidecars & were a little bit worried about the 'rubbing'. Or maybe Troy remembers me from when he first came out of juniors into senior dirt track racing & recalls some of the dirty tactics that myself, Gilesy & all the others used to pull. It'd be 'no Wal, the bastard stomps on ya gear lever halfway down the straights', but hey we all did it to each other so everybody was equal. Mark, I need to borrow your Tenni around next years WSC round, better put some sticky tyres on it, I wouldn't want it to fall over whilst on 'display'.
